Lise + Lio

Happy Couple: Lise + Lio

Location: La Grange de Bourgoult (Harquency, Haute Normandie, France)

Date: August 27, 2017

Back in August of 2017, my family and I visited France for my cousin Lio’s wedding. We spent a few days in Paris visiting more family before driving to the lovely and historic town of Harquency. This little village is only about an hour and a half away from Paris and is in one of my favourite regions of France: Normandy!

This area is absolutely stunning with its overflowing greenery, all sorts of different and colourful flowers and rustic homes and buildings everywhere. If ever you’re in Paris, I highly recommend visiting this region for a few days! It’s a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Paris and you get a taste of the French countryside.

La Grange de Bourgoult was one of the most beautiful wedding venues I have ever seen. It dates back to the 13th century, its rustic grounds and rooms made me feel like I had set foot in Beauty and the Beast and the whole place was just stunning. If you choose to have your wedding here, keep in mind that the hotel has a very limited capacity and not everyone can sleep here. This was the case for my family and I, so we stayed in a neighbouring village called Giverny (a 24-minute drive from the venue), a town best known for being the home of Claude Monet, so you can imagine just how gorgeous this area is!

At first I was disappointed we weren’t staying at the actual venue, but when we got to our hotel, an equally rustic and dreamy boutique hotel called La Dîme de Giverny, I was not sad AT ALL. Although much smaller than La Grange de Bourgoult, this place felt like a little slice of heaven, tucked away on a side street and surrounded by trees and plants. I would describe the rooms as minimal with rustic charm, and I would totally base my future cottage off of this hotel!

Back to the wedding! The photos featured in this post are from the actual wedding day and the brunch the following day.

Enjoy!
